Kube

Poltrona Frau, 2015

As the seats can be folded up and down, the impression created when the seats are not in use and folded away is “not that of empty chairs, but of floating partitions with no human imprint”. The backs of the seats feature not only folding tables, but also all the lighting and audio equipment the conference participants need.

In the course of the Poetical Analysis® that preceded the design, EOOS explored the tiered structures of rows of seats in antique amphitheatres. In 2004, Kube won the renowned design award Compasso d’Oro. This seating system was originally designed for Matteo Grassi 2004 and is now in production by Poltrona Frau.
