Delta

MatteoGrassi, 2012

With this project we wanted to create an object that is visually powerful, innovative in construction and poetic at the same time. It started with the search for a possible way to interweave two pieces of thick leather together so that a three-dimensional deformation is created. The use of a very special cutting pattern produces a gentle and poetic curved surface with a delta-shaped interweaving.

The resulting leather surface is characterized by the rhythm of calm and perspective and is perfectly suited as an ergonomic seat shell. The idea of a meshwork, which is normally used decoratively, here for the first time takes on a constructive, formative and ergonomic dimension. The molded leather surface is supported by a minimal metal structure.
