Making of Crosshatch

Geiger & Herman Miller, 2014

With Crosshatch we were searching for a synthesis of construction and poetical expression. Parachute cords are an integral part of the design.  Pulled down, the cords create a system of internal tension and without them the chair would be totally unstable. Although being lightweight and transparent, Crosshatch gives the user the feeling of being enclosed in a comforting protective nest.
