Vertigo

Poltrona Frau, 2018

Gravitation and antigravitation is one of the main thoughts behind Vertigo. The wooden anchor on the floor is the element of gravitation. The upholstered elements appear weightless and are almost flying above the ground, which we call the antigravitation zone. In between there is only a minimal wire structure which follows the line of force and allows the air, space and light to float through.

Our daybed is a transformation object. You can rotate the seat and back independently into a horizontal position. With Vertigo we tried to design an object which is the mechanism and a mechanism which is the object. The structure you see is the structure for the transformation and you can understand immediately how it works.
