Unlike the Kompass model, the Kube seating system forms floating walls that cut lines through an auditorium or conference room. These purely abstract elements structure the space and are more part of the architecture than classic auditorium seating. Our aim was to erase the traces of people when the seats are not in use.

We originally designed Kube and Kompass for the Italian manufacturer Matteograssi. Kube was launched in 2003, Kompass in 2010. When the company went bankrupt shortly thereafter, we were immediately contacted by Poltrona Frau. The architect Rem Koolhaas had seen Kube and asked them if they could produce the system for his new building, the Performing Arts Center in Taipei. Both systems were completely redesigned and are available again since 2016.
